\EARTH DAY 2010
APRIL 22
This year in celebration of Earth Day we have planned a few activities for students to have fun and also bring appreciation to our home.
Thursday, April 22 is Earth Day!!
We will be having our community clean-up this day starting at 11:15 am and running until 12:00pm with a hot dog lunch provided from 12:00pm through to 1:00pm.
Anyone who would like to come join us or volunteer is welcome as more hands make the day go much more smoothly.
Also during our clean-up, the school will participate in “Power Hour” where all electronic devices (computers, lights, etc.) will be turned off for a whole hour starting at 11:00 am right before we head outside for community clean-up.
Friday April 23
We wanted to exemplify the effects of our actions thus far on the Earth. To demonstrate the pollution in our world, we are asking that students wear their allocated green or blue shirts to school Friday. 70% of our school will be blue to represent the surface of the Earth covered by water and 30% of our school will be green to represent the surface of the Earth exposed as land. Throughout the day we will “pollute” our Earth so that by the end of the day we can see how much of our “world” we have effected.
• Kindergarten through Grade 4 Students and Teachers will wear BLUE
• Grades 5 through 9 Students and Teachers will wear GREEN
• Grades 10 through 12 Students and Teachers, and Office Staff will wear BLUE
Thank you for your support and try to appreciate our Earth this week!! Maybe recycle one more piece of paper or empty can!
