PHRD Announces the Appointment of Associate Principal

Pembina Hills Regional Division No. 7 is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Gordon Klassen as Associate Principal of Fort Assiniboine School.

Mr. Klassen joins us from High Prairie School Division with a wide range of experience and skills developed as a Teacher, Guidance Counselor and Acting Principal Designate. Gordon is a graduate of the University of Alberta with a Bachelor of Education and a Masters of Education in Educational Studies.

Throughout his career, Gordon has been involved in distance education support, outreach and alternative program development and implementation, PLCs, IPP development/implementation, cognitive coaching, Woodcock Johnson III testing, Accountability Pillar studies and was a member of High Prairie's technology committee. Mr. Klassen was instrumental in creating an award program for attendance, behaviour and achievement in a previous assignment which was credited with changing the climate of the school, for staff and students.

Mr. Klassen aspires to instill a sense of pride and identity with students in relation to their school and believes that every student deserves the best possible support to enhance their learning. This new assignment at Fort Assiniboine is a natural progression that will offer Gordon the opportunity to continue to develop and enhance his skills and abilities.

Gordon and his wife Carey are the proud parents of Mhairi and Johnathan, and are enthusiastic about their move to the Barrhead area. Gordon is looking forward to this new assignment and to working with the community, students, and staff of Fort Assiniboine School.
