Student Exam Policy and Procedure:
In order to assist in having a climate that is conducive to the successful completion of government, midterm, and final exams at Fort Assiniboine School, there is a policy in place.

1. All students must remain for at least one hour for each exam.
2. Every effort must be made to write examinations during the regularly scheduled time. Students absent from a scheduled exam will have their parents contacted by the school. A day is scheduled for students to catch up on missed exams. This is not the case for grade 12 Diploma Examinations, as the exams must be sent back to Alberta Education upon the completion of the exam.
3. If a student is inexcusably late for a scheduled exam, he/she will have only the remaining time left in the exam to complete it. Parents will be notified should this occur.
4. If a student is extremely ill during the examination period and will miss an exam, a parent must contact the school and the student may require a doctor's certificate. Such documentation may be required to be forwarded to Alberta Education for Diploma Examinations and Provincial Achievement Tests.
5. If a student is disruptive during an exam (eg. Talking), he/she will be warned of their behavior. If the behavior persists, the student will be required to leave the exam and will be awarded an “incomplete.” If the exam cannot be written by the end of the semester (when grades are due), the incomplete will result in the grade of zero. Parents will be contacted immediately after the incident. In the case of a Diploma Exam and Provincial Achievement Test, the incident will be reported to Alberta Education and a grade of zero will be assessed by the Education Ministry for the exam.
6. If a student is caught cheating during an exam, he/she will be required to leave the exam and will be awarded an “incomplete.” If the exam cannot be written by the end of the semester (when grades are due), the incomplete will result in the grade of zero. Parents will be contacted immediately after the incident. In the case of a Diploma Exam and Provincial Achievement Test, the incident will be reported to Alberta Education and a grade of zero will be assessed by the Education Ministry for the exam.
7. Upon the completion of their exam, students are required to leave the school as other classes (elementary – all year, and Jr. High in January) are still in session. Students are to clear the hallways as soon as they can after completing their exam as not to disrupt other students.
8. If students wishing to access additional assistance from the teaching staff during the exam week are encouraged to do so; however, students are not remain at the school in the hallways and foyer. A study hall is set up for students who remain at the school.
9. There are to be no cell phones in the exam room.
